While reading legal textbooks in jail, Aftab's father says, "If the verdict comes, I will perform the last rites of Shraddha. The lawyer is not coming for an appearance."
That same Aftab, who is charged with killing his roommate Shraddha Walkar and dismembering her body into 35 pieces,. Aftab has gained a good amount of health after appearing thin three months ago. A book was in his grasp. Aftab is currently reading law books, as a policeman informed me.
The Delhi Police took Aftab into custody on November 12, 2022, in the Chhatarpur area. Even after two years, this case is still pending. On a date, Shraddha's father, Vikas Valkar, travels from Mumbai to Delhi but leaves feeling let down.
"I have to perform my daughter's last rites for the peace of her soul," says Vikas. Shraddha's remains belong to the case. Until the decision is made, I will not be able to immerse them. The hearing is being properly conducted by the court, but Aftab's attorney is not present.
Two of Shraddha's and Aftab's landlords testified at the hearing on March 7. Even today, Aftab's attorney did not appear in court.
The father of Shraddha remarked, "I'm from Mumbai; Aftab's lawyers can't travel to Delhi."
During questioning, Aftab admitted to strangling and killing Shraddha on May 18, 2022. Then 35 pieces of Shraddha's body were cut out. purchased a new 300-liter refrigerator to store them. The corpse's face was burned so that it was unrecognizable.
He continued to order food from Zomato, consume it, and drink beer while he was cutting up the dead body. He would go outside every night at twelve and toss the pieces of the dead body into the Chhatarpur forest for the next eighteen days. Some of the larger bones were ground and discarded. Following the registration of Shraddha's missing case in Mumbai, the murder was discovered.
Vikas Walkar, Shraddha's father, filed a missing person's report at the Manikpur police station in Mumbai. 'I came from Mumbai to Delhi on several dates, and Aftab's lawyer is not able to come to court by staying in Delhi,' Vikas comments regarding the decision's delay. He doesn't show up for many dates. For this reason, the case of my daughter will not be decided. I have also brought this attitude of Aftab's lawyer's up to Judge Madam's attention.
'The daughter's ashes have not been immersed yet,' adds Vikas. Without a verdict, Shraddha's ashes cannot be immersed. I inquired with the pandit. He stated that Shraddha's final rites cannot be carried out as long as her ashes are present.
