After the 2024 IPL, Rishabh Pant will return to cricket. In addition, he will captain the Delhi Capitals (DC). On Tuesday, DC Chairman Parth Jindal made this announcement. Pant is making his 14-month hiatus from professional cricket.
Pant was involved in an accident on December 31, 2022, while traveling from Delhi to Roorkee. He then underwent surgery. He was unable to participate in the 2023 season as a result. In the 2023 season, Australian cricketer David Warner took Rishabh's spot as captain. Pant only received NCA's fitness clearance last week.
"We are delighted to welcome Rishabh back as our captain," stated Parth Jindal. His kind of cricket has always been rooted in boldness and grit. We're excited and energized for the upcoming season, and I can't wait for him to join our team once more.
But there is still uncertainty about wicketkeeping, particularly with regard to Pant's wicketkeeping. Regarding Pant's wicketkeeping, neither Parth Jindal nor the team management have discussed it. But he did post a video of himself working out and wicketkeeping on Instagram a few days ago. In the NCA 20-over training match, he was also observed fielding and hitting.
Pant stopped playing cricket in December 2022.
Since participating in the Test series against Bangladesh in December 2022, Pant has not played cricket. On December 31, 2022, he was involved in an accident while traveling from Delhi to Roorkee. Following that, he had three surgeries on his right leg's knee.
Two weeks ago, NCA arranged a practice match in Bengaluru where Pant participated. This was batted in by him. Along with Team India, he has also batted in the nets.

DC's advantages and disadvantages: Delhi has a wealth of explosive batters, and Pant-Prithvi strikes at a pace of over 145; but, the absence of all-rounders may provide a challenge.
