Anticipatory bail was granted to Chief Minister Kejriwal in the ED summons case. He did not show up for eight of the agency's summonses and was also released from further appearances.
Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, made an appearance before the Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday regarding the Enforcement Directorate summons case. A minute following his arrival, the court released him on a bond worth Rs 15,000 rupees. Kejriwal has also been excused from appearing in this case by the court.
ED informed the court that, despite eight summonses, Kejriwal did not show up for the recording of his statement regarding the meetings that were held prior to the finalization of the liquor policy and the allegations of bribery.
In an appeal to the court, Kejriwal's attorney stated that he required the ED documents that would have allowed him to be questioned. The court has mandated that ED receive the documents. On April 1, the case will be heard.
The hearing was previously held in Rouse Avenue Court on Friday, March 15. On March 7, he received a summons to appear in court regarding the ED petition.
ED has already issued eight summonses. Kejriwal did not make a single appearance before the agency. Following this, the investigating agency has taken Kejriwal to court on two complaints.
Arguments in court...
Court: Will the defendants be present?
Kejriwal's attorney, Gupta: "Yes, he is in court, and you can order a bail bond." Kejriwal is then free to carry on with the cross-examination.
Court: Releases the defendant on a Rs. 15,000 surety bond. Kejriwal is free to leave the court. The attorneys ought to remain in the courtroom.
ED: Take a quick look at this case's sections.
Court: The accused has requested bail since the charges are subject to it.
ED to Court: Would you like to submit a response?
ED: All we're trying to say is that Kejriwal is just using posturing techniques. Their goal is to postpone the inquiry.
Gupta: On Monday, the case is scheduled to be heard.
Court: In our opinion, you ought to respond to this first. That would be suitable.
ED: They will receive any paperwork that is necessary.
