New Delhi: On Wednesday, Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom, a 2012 Olympic medalist and six-time world champion, announced her retirement from boxing. Mary Kom gave up boxing because, according to International Boxing Association (IBA) regulations, boxers of both sexes are only permitted to compete at the elite level until they are 40 years old.

Mary, 41, said during an event that she still has the desire to compete at the highest level but that the age restriction will force her to end her career. "I still have the appetite, but I am unable to compete because of my age," the woman stated. I would like to play more, but the age restriction is forcing me to stop. My goal is to retire."I've accomplished everything in my life," Mary declared at a gathering.
Mary is the first female boxer to win six world titles in the history of the sport. The five-time Asian champion made Asian history in 2014 by becoming the first Indian female boxer to win a gold medal. After winning the bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the seasoned boxer was determined to break every record and win every title.
