Hyderabad: Late on Monday night, a bridge under construction across the Manair River in Telangana's Peddapalli district collapsed. Luckily, no one was there when two cement girders collapsed, preventing any casualties. The bridge, which has been under construction since 2016, was meant to link Odedu in the Peddapalli district with Garmilapalli in the Jayashankar Bhoolapalli district. But because to funding shortages and contractor changes, the construction process has been beset by delays.
Locals are irate and upset because the bridge project has been continuously delayed despite being started in 2016. At first, the project was expected to cost Rs 46 crore. Disgruntled residents have leveled criticism at the government, pointing out that despite eight years of building, the bridge is still not finished.
Serious concerns are raised by the bridge collapse regarding the efficiency of government supervision in overseeing infrastructure projects and guaranteeing public safety. It emphasizes how critical it is to have stricter laws and oversight in order to stop situations like this from happening again.
