New Delhi: The 'Earth Hour India' initiative, which aims to create awareness about environmental issues, has selected renowned Indian badminton star and two-time Olympic medallist P V Sindhu as its goodwill ambassador. March 23rd is scheduled to be observed as Earth Day.
Sindhu committed herself to the cause by saying, "I am proud to support WWF-India's Earth Hour initiative by taking steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle and spending quality time amidst nature."
Sindhu declared, "I promise to dedicate an hour for Earth by substituting my regular gym sessions with outdoor workouts in nature once a week," as part of her involvement. I'm inviting everyone to join me in this Earth Hour initiative to make a good impact on the health of the world. Let's try to make this Earth Hour the most significant one to date.
The Secretary-General and CEO of WWF-India, Ravi Singh, emphasized that the campaign 'Give an Hour for Earth' goes beyond just shutting off lights. "Every year, during Earth Hour, individuals worldwide voluntarily switch off non-essential lights for an hour," he said.
Singh stressed, "It is a global movement that keeps inspiring and motivating people, reminding us of our common duty to create a more resilient and brighter future for our planet.
