The Indian Premier League (2024) saw Punjab Kings upset Gujarat Titans by 3 wickets in the 17th match. Punjab has now triumphed twice this season. The squad has triumphed following two losses in a row.
On Thursday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Punjab won the toss and elected to bowl first. Gujarat scored 199 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs while batting first. Punjab lost seven wickets in order to reach the 200-run total in 19.5 overs. The team is the sixth in the league to have chased a goal of 200 or more. The first team to achieve this was Punjab.
The game's best player was Shashank Singh. He scored 61 runs on 29 balls in an undefeated inning. It's Shashank's first IPL victory.
Performance of Players: Gill's innings, mostly due to Shashank's fifty.
Shubman Gill, the skipper of Gujarat, batted first and amassed an undefeated 89 runs off of 48 balls. 33 runs were scored by Sai Sudarshan. Rabada Kagiso claimed two wickets. Each of Harpreet Brar and Harshal Patel claimed a single wicket.

Causes of Gujarat's loss
Vijay Shankar was sent to bat at number five by Gujarat captain Shubman Gill rather than finishing at that position. Gill's choice had an impact on the team's score. At a strike rate of 80, Vijay Shankar scored 8 runs on 10 balls. As a result, the club scored 20 runs less at home, lowering their scoring rate. Wriddhiman Saha, who opened the innings with 11 runs in 13 balls, and Kane Williamson, who scored 26 runs in 22 balls, batted slowly before Saha.
Punjab lost four wickets for 70 runs in a one-wicket run chase in the final overs after failing to apply pressure in the middle overs. Gujarati bowlers were unable to exert pressure in the middle overs after this. Gujarat managed to claim just one wicket, even in the last overs.
Umesh failed to make the catch at the last second. Punjab lost six wickets for 153 runs in 16 overs while chasing the 200-run target. Ashutosh Sharma had a chance to be caught out on the third ball when Mohit Sharma came in the 17th over, but Umesh Yadav missed the catch in deep square. Ashutosh missed the catch while he was playing on three runs. Ashutosh thereafter scored 31 runs off of 17 balls. The game altered because of his innings.
Skilled bowlers such as Mohit and Rashid were also quite costly. The bowlers from Gujarat were also highly paid. Rashid Khan, Yadav, and Omarzai all scored runs with an economy of greater than ten. Mohit also contributed runs with a 9.50 economy.
The final over was given to Darshan Nalkande, while bowlers Umesh, Omarzai, and Mohit Sharma proved expensive. Gill still gave Darshan Nalkande the 20th over following this.
